Overview

Provide legal advice and counsel to various USTA business units. Must be willing to work in a "hybrid/flex" environment which will require both on-site and remote work as designated by USTA, and may be updated from time to time.

Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility for providing strategic and legal advice and support for the following USTA Community Tennis departments: Recreational Competition (Juniors, Collegiate, Adults, Competition Pathway and National Events);  Engagement Services; USTA-U  coach developer and performance analytics agreements; Community Tennis data products and digital services, Community Tennis & National Campus Marketing initiatives and agreements; Community Tennis privacy and data security; USTA Intellectual Property maintenance and enforcement; National Campus  facility support, technology agreements, grants and technical support.  Secondary responsibility for Pro Circuit, Officiating department, National Campus agreements, operations, sponsorships and events, National Campus litigation, and support of the USTA National Campus General Counsel;
  • Responsibility for and coordination with other departmental attorneys on advertising, sweepstakes & random drawings, National Campus sponsorship agreements and activations;
  • Engage in extensive verbal and written communication with USTA clients (including advising all levels of USTA staff);
  • Serve as a member of USTA Legal Department team providing regular interaction, counsel and legal support as needed;
  • Manage outside counsel as necessary;
  • Secondary responsibility to supervise Orlando Paralegal(s);
  • Other such related duties as may be required.

Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of applicable law practice experience, some in-house and/or sports related experience is preferable.
  • Member Florida Bar or eligible for FL BAR pursuant to "Authorized House Counsel"  
  • Superior drafting/writing and research ability
  • Exceptional communications and interpersonal skills
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Self-starter and independent worker, with sound decision-making abilities, significant attention to detail
  • Business acumen with forward thinking, innovative mindset
  • Ability to manage outside counsel

Pay range in the United States
Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
Base salary
$109,000/yr -133,000/yr
