The Role

Paralegal will provide dedicated paralegal support to the Senior Associate Counsel and Counsel.

 

  • Draft, review and distribute agreements, licenses, releases and other legal paper for the Professional Tennis Operations division, the US Open, and the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center and tracking deposition schedules.
  • Provide litigation support with respect to document review, document collection, legal holds notices manage working files.
  • Coordinate various projects through collaboration with multiple business units for key events and initiatives.
  • Track queue of contract requests and contract life cycle assigned to Senior Associate Counsel and Counsel and effectively maintain communications and client awareness of legal processes to clients.
  •  Conduct legal research for designated projects.
  • Process incoming subpoena or requests for information, including capturing requested information and preparing formal responses.
  • Track and maintain Continuing Legal Education and attorney registrations for Senior Associate Counsel & Counsel.
  • Provide backup support to Legal Department Contracts Manager, and Pro Tennis Legal Operations Manager and billing/invoice/expense support to Pro Tennis Legal Division.
  • Provide Notarial services when requested.
  • Light administrative support to Pro Tennis Legal department (5 individuals).
  • Other special projects and duties as assigned.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed.

 

Who You Are

 

  • College Degree required; Recent college grads accepted
  • Smart go-getter willing to learn and work hard is most important quality
  • Some law firm or in-house legal office experience preferred.
  • Must be available to work 7 days per week during the US Open (mid Aug-early Sept)
  • Strong organizational skills with strong multi-tasking abilities.
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to draft correspondence, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Ability to conduct research, including legal and general topics and prepare summary of findings.
  • Team player and ability to get along with all levels of management.
  • Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal, problem-solving and communications skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters discreetly.
  • Ability to manage a high volume workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent command of MS Office (Word, Excel) and Google Business Suite (Gmail, Google Hangouts, and Google Sheets).
  • Self-starter with ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Notary Public a plus.
  • Position is considered non-exempt.
  • This position is designated as in New York, NY. Any such position must meet the current USTA hybrid/flex requirements as updated from time to time. Please consult HR for the most current policy.
  • Position will be based in the New York City (Times Square) office.

The expected range for the base salary for this position is $70,000 - $75,000. 

This range does not include any additional pay or benefits for which a person may qualify.  The actual base salary offered is determined by several variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, the years of relevant experience, their unique skills, and the location from which they will be performing the job.
