The Role

Paralegal will provide dedicated paralegal support to the Senior Associate Counsel and Counsel. 

Provide paralegal support for Associate General Counsel and Deputy Chief Legal Officer to USTA and General Counsel to the USTA Foundation, USTA, and as otherwise needed by the USTA Legal Department.

  • Drafting, reviewing, analyzing, and distributing agreements for (i) the Finance division; (ii) the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion division, (iii) the USTA Shared Services division; (iv) the USTA Westchester and Time Square Office Building Operations division; and (iv) USTA Foundation.
  • Track queue of contract requests and contract life cycle assigned to Associate General Counsel and effectively maintain communications and client awareness of legal processes to clients. Provide back-up to Senior Director of Legal Records utilizing internal document management system.
  • Conduct legal research for designated projects.
  • Manage the annual Insurance renewals for the various corporations, manage a system of tracking requests to secure and provide annual Certificates of Insurance.
  • Maintain and manage the annual charitable filings for the USTA Foundation in all 50 state including reviewing the annual applications and ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Maintains and/or creates files or record keeping systems. Sorts, labels, files, and retrieves documents or other materials.
  • Maintain, update, and troubleshoot calendaring schedules and appointments. Prepare and coordinate materials, in advance, related to all meetings and appointments.
  • Provide support to the notice process for the nomination and election of new Board Members (USTA and Foundation), as well as new members of the Nominating Committee and the election of the Elite Athlete and Representative to the USOPC AC and the USTA AAC.
  • Provide litigation support, including document review, document collection, legal hold notices, and manage working files. In addition, provide back-up to Senior Director of Legal Records utilizing internal document management system.
  • Track and maintain Continuing Legal Education and attorney registrations for Deputy Chief Legal Officer and Associate General Counsel to USTA and General Counsel to the USTA Foundation. 
  • Provide Notarial services when requested.
  • Other special projects and duties as assigned.
  •   Flexibility to work overtime as needed

Who You Are

  • Three plus years of paralegal experience working in a legal department within a corporate and/or law firm environment preferably within the sports or entertainment industry.
  • Smart go-getter willing to learn and work hard is most important quality, although some law firm or in-house legal office experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred with extensive experience in drafting contracts, agreements, and correspondence.
  • Exceptional organization skills with strong multi-tasking abilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Exceptional writing skills with attention to detail. Strong computer skills including command of MS Office and Outlook, Google Docs, and other Google programs as used by USTA staff.
  • Must have the ability to manage a high-volume workload in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Position is considered non-exempt.
  • Position will be based in the New York City (Times Square) office.

The expected range for the base salary for this position is $70,000 - $75,000. This range does not include any additional pay or benefits for which a person may qualify.  The actual base salary offered is determined by several variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, the years of relevant experience, their unique skills, and the location from which they will be performing the job.
