The Role

This position will implement strategies and programs designed to acquire and retain tennis players by strengthening recreational play opportunities, including initiatives that engage young adults and those connected to higher education institutions, to support broad-based participation.

  • Assist in the development of strategies to attract new tennis players and expand participation opportunities, including engagement through colleges, universities, and other community-based environments.
  • Support strategies aimed at retaining players across the participation pathway, including those transitioning from junior tennis into ongoing recreational play.
  • Implement player acquisition and retention initiatives in collaboration with USTA Sectional Associations to support sustainable grassroots tennis growth.
  • Lead in-person and virtual meetings, trainings, and presentations with colleges, universities, USTA Sectional Associations, and other partners to educate stakeholders on participation and recreational play strategies.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for collegiate and recreational play initiatives, including Tennis on Campus (TOC) programs and related partners.
  • Serve as a key liaison for national and partner organizations that support recreational tennis participation within collegiate and community environments.
  • Act as USTA staff liaison to relevant committees and working groups, ensuring administrative support, including coordination of meetings, preparation of materials, and documentation of outcomes.
  • In collaboration with partners, support the planning and execution of national and invitational recreational tennis events and championships.
  • Facilitate regular virtual meetings with Sectional Association staff and stakeholders to align on participation strategies, program updates, and best practices.
  • Encourage and support the use of USTA digital platforms and tools to manage recreational events, programs, and match play, and provide training as needed.
  • Prepare regular reports and updates on participation strategies, program performance, and key initiatives.
  • Process expense reports, invoices, and contracts associated with participation and recreational play initiatives.
  • Provide on-site operational support for national or departmental events, including but not limited to USTA League National Championships, NTRP National Championships, and other participation-based events.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  

Who You Are

  • A college degree is required
  • Prior TOC (Tennis on Campus), tennis experience, or knowledge, preferred
  • Excellent MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and/or Google Workspace skills
  • Team player and collaborator
  • Live event support experience preferred; Sporting events/competitions a plus
  • Proven strategic planning, development, and implementation experience
  • Demonstrated agility and patience
  • Extremely strong detail orientation and accuracy required
  • Strong interpersonal skills required
  • This position is designated as "hybrid/flex" in Orlando, FL, and may allow for some remote and on-site work. Any such position must meet the current USTA hybrid/flex requirements as updated from time to time. Please consult HR for the most current policy.

The expected range for the annual base salary for this position is $60,000 - 70,000. This role is eligible for an Incentive Compensation Plan (ICP) bonus up to 5%. This range does not include any additional pay or benefits for which a person may qualify. The actual base salary offered is determined by several variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, the years of relevant experience, their unique skills, and the location from which they will be performing the job.
