The Role

 

The focus of this role is direct player coaching with incremental off-court leadership responsibilities; supporting the identification, development, and transition of elite female players in the Early Professional developmental stage. This role focuses on implementing and executing on-court and off-court USA Tennis strategy for high-performance players with the goal of maximizing the number of players achieving Top 50 pathway milestones. This role will support achieving set KPIs for the entire group of players within the Early Professional stage, as well as resource management aligned with the USA Tennis strategy and vision, while emphasizing and exemplifying USA Tennis cultural values.

  • Responsible for maximizing the number of players on track to reach the Top 50 in the Early Professional age group, as well as players moving into and out of the Transition level.
  • Provide direct coaching to Early Professional female athletes, focusing on top prospects and supporting their progression along the USTA pathway
  • Support understanding of USA Tennis strategy, cultural norms, and KPIs across the Early Professional team of coaches; support the Early Professional team achieving set goals
  • Support internal and cross-functional team meetings to drive accountability in achieving those KPIs
  • Support development of players’ progress planning together with the performance team and Head of Women’s Tennis through monthly huddles or quarterly performance team meetings; track progress and ensure resources are adequately allocated
  • Support partnership with sections, college, and the private sector to develop players and coaches; partner with these stakeholders on various initiatives to strengthen developmental pathways
  • Create deep relationships with top players, coaches, and agents; become an expert in understanding each of our top players’ backgrounds, situations, and needs
  • Be a champion of USA Tennis culture, exemplifying outlined norms both on campus and at every event; demonstrate a team-first attitude and highest ethical standards
  • Mentor and collaborate with the team of Women’s National Coaches to ensure consistent methodology and player support
  • Work closely with the Head of Women’s Tennis and Player ID & Development Sr. Director, and other National Coaches to align programming across age groups
  • Participate in player selection, wild card determinations, and pathway progression decisions
  • Support evaluation of coaching effectiveness, player progress, and program outcomes

  

Who You Are

  • Prior demonstrated success coaching high-level junior female tennis players, ideally at the Early Professional developmental level.
  • Deep knowledge of the U.S. Women’s tennis development pathways and Player ID & Development philosophy
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with players, parents, coaches, and tennis academies
  • Experience designing and implementing development programs for elite youth players
  • Former competitive player or coach experience preferred, but not required
  • College degree preferred but not required
  • Must be able to work on-site and travel frequently, including to USTA Training Centers in Orlando and Carson, and domestic/international tournaments for Early Professional players

The expected range for the annual base salary for this position is $108,500- 135,000.This role is eligible for an Incentive Compensation Plan (ICP) bonus up to 5%. This range does not include any additional pay or benefits for which a person may qualify. The actual base salary offered is determined by several variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, the years of relevant experience, their unique skills, and the location from which they will be performing the job.
